Results From Fontana - Auto Club 400

Here we go again, Jimmie is in the right place at the right time and takes another checkered flag away from dominant cars and passes Dale Sr in the all time wins column.  It was one of those weeks in the pool where no one did spectacular, but James did just enough to claim the week's winner.  While Mark on the other hand had a terrible week, slipping to 4th in the standings.
Once again in the half pool, a lot of ups and downs.  A swap at the front, with Colleen taking #1 away from hubby Brian.  George F is hot on their tails.  Keith again slips down, while John M slipped big with a last place finish from Kyle Larson.
Everyone enjoy the Easter weekend, and the off week in racing and spend time with your families.  We will be back racing next weekend in Martinsville, Virginia for some great short track racing.
See ya'all then!

Results From Phoenix - Good Sam 500

Wow, and we thought Daytona was exciting at the end.  Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick made Phoenix thrilling too!  Everybody seemed to do pretty good this week, except for Colleen, whose team flat-lined and looked Gary-esque.  Brian looks to be creeping in on my lead.
In half pool news, lots of number 1 picks, and Keith with his second in a row moves him up to 8th after a terrible start.  Woody was the biggest gainer this week.
Good luck to everyone in Fontana this week!

Results From Las Vegas - Kobalt 400

Didn't get to see too much of the race, but from what I did see, it looked pretty interesting.  Sand storms, light rain and a very persistent wind.  In the end, late leader Kyle Busch ran out of car and fell to fourth place, while Brad Keselowski thundered to the win.  Colleen and I tied for top scores this week, everybody did pretty good except for Gary..... again.  What up dude? You picked 2nd.  I am starting to think you like making those second half surges to the front.
Half pool news. John P and Keith, both newcomers, picked Kes to win and both moved up in the rankings.  Blaster moves into first place by a slim margin or second place Colleen.
Good luck to all next week in Phoenix!

Results From Atlanta - Folds of Honor QuickTrips 500

Who here isn't liking this new down-force package?  I personally think it's great racing and watching those cars in the turns with the drivers turning right just to keep the cars heading in the right direction is wonderful.  All that and a very worn Atlanta race track to a whooping to those goodyear tires, which ultimately helped Johnson get win #76.  An early pit stop gave him quite an advantage over Harvick who tried to run him down, but just wore out his tires.  Junior made an exciting pass to finish second at the line, beating out Kyle Busch.
That being said, there were some penalties.  Truex nailed 15 points, while Allmendinger, Dillon, Menard and Newman were all hit for 10 a piece.  All of this is reflected in the updated pool standings.  Really bad for Colleen, who has both Newman and Menard.  I am sure all of these are being appealed and if overturned, you will all get your points back.
In the half pool, both John M and Janice D had Jimmie to win.  And both made up ground in the standings.  Rich S, Blaster and Colleen are off to a strong start, while newcomers Jericho and Keith are at the bottom.  Long way to go, so have no fear.
   Next up...... Las Vegas baby!

Results From Daytona - Daytona 500

Wow! What a finish.  Denny Hamlin waited for just the right opportunity and made a last lap pass for the lead, and somehow, it stuck.  Beating Martin Truex Jr. to the win by mere inches.  And with that, the 2016 season is off with a great start.  New look blog, fresh faces in our half pool, and a renewed enthusiasm for Nascar, until the announce some stupid rules change.
Gary is off to a terrible start, looking like he did last season.  I am sure it won't last long.  James, Mark and myself had a good points day to start things off.  Lets go to Atlanta!

In the half pool, with now 17 entries, Blaster and I top the charts with our #18 pick.  Junior believers, of course, went with the obvious pick and paid for that.  Good thing there is 17 races left.
Welcome newbies and hope you enjoy the ride and stay with us for seasons to come.
On to Georgia we go.
