Results From Homestead - Ford EcoBoost 400

Well, what an eventful end to the season.  Gary was 4 points out of second,  Mark was 10 points out of 3rd.  Mark's team failed to realize he was in the hunt for the final money spot, and let James finish in third.  The big news was that Gary scored almost 60 points more than Brian to win his third championship in a row.  Remember boys and girls, I do not think that even when Colleen was running this pool, anyone ever won two in a row, and Gary here has won three.  I hope he realizes, he will not be allowed to participate in next years pool as a courtesy to everyone else.
John M. held on to win the 1/2 pool, in spite of pretty much everyone having a terrible week.  Debbie, moved up a spot to cash in third, knocking John M out of third.
Congrats to all who played this year.  If you could let me know as soon as possible if you will be back next season in the big pool, that would be great.  Also, if everyone could ask around, and get some people into the half pool, that would be great too.
Even though I have Nascar Pool Burnout, I am already eagerly waiting for next season to begin.
Adios for now,
Paul

Results From Phoenix - Quicken Loans 500

Hey Ya'all!  Shocking, I know, but I got the standings done early due to being off last night.   The slow burn of Brians' season is reaching it's end.  One way or another the slump will culminate in Homestead.  Will he hang in there or will we crown Gary champion for (and I hate to say it) a third time in a row.  Due to top 13 finishes for all his drivers, Gary scored 15 points more than Brian and is now only 4 points away.  James, who was tied with Mark for third going into this last race scored 10 more points than Mark and is now in sole possession of third.  Gotta say one thing and one thing only about Newman, he did what was necessary to get into the champion round by driving in really hard into the last corner there to plow into Kyle Larson to beat Gordon by one point.  Now if he somehow winds up winning the Championship, I will be banning Nascar for life.
In the half pool, John has wrapped up the first place spot, but the battle rages on for the other two money spots.  Going to be quite a finish in Homestead.
Later everybody and good luck to all,
Paul,

Results From Texas - AAA Texas 500

I can hear you all grumbling through my computer... "what takes this man so long to get these results posted???" I am not going to make excuses, but instead just apologize.  And give you the results from Texas.  Bad Brad did it again, and pissed off yet another driver.  This time though, I didn't see a problem with what Brad did.  But let me tell you, I laughed so hard when I finally realized that was Kevin Harvick shoving Brad into Gordon.  Wow.
The top two get closer this week as Gary is now only 19 points out of first.  Brian had a great week, Gary had a better one.  Meanwhile, 3rd is now tied with James and Mark fighting for the last money spot.
In the half pool, Debbie closes in on third (up two spots), and John L falls two spots to 6th.
Expect some beating and banging tomorrow at Phoenix as all the drivers in the top 8 are going to get down and dirty for the 4 remaining spots.
Enjoy, and good luck,
Paul

Results From Martinsville - Goody's 500

Well, the results are in (were in... just too much going on).  Brian continues to lead, but slimmer and slimmer every week.  Gary cut in to his lead thanks to Dale Jr's big win and his first grandfather clock.  Mark and James continue their epic battle for the last money spot.  Mark is down by only 15 points from 3rd.  Three races to go, and the tension is high.
In the half pool, John is trying to finish 1-2, but I stand in the way of that.  Unless I totally self destruct, I should hold onto 2nd.
Good luck to all in Texas,
Paul

Today, Stewart gets to go back in for me and Truex comes out. My top three are back in.  Results to follow,

Results For Talladega - Geico 500

Well at long last, here they are.  Talladega reeked havoc with everyone in both pools this week.  John and I swapped high and low scores this week also.  James and Mark switched 3rd and 4th with James now in the money spot.  Junior's chances to move on were swept away when Biffle got in his rear and sent him into the wall.  Not too happy after this, so I will cut this short and focus my attention now on the results from Martinsville.
Later, Ya'all
Paul

Results From Charlotte - Bank of America 500

Ok the results are in, Brian is officially on the ropes as we now have 5 races to go.  Now down to 39 points, Gary is smelling the fear.  The race that was Charlotte, saw some interesting happenings.  Brad Keselowski used his car as a weapon of mass destruction and tried to get even with everyone who had wronged him over the years on the cooldown lap and in the pits, and then even to the garage.  Unfortunately, I, who do like Brads driving abilities, cannot even defend him here.  He tried to block Kenseth on a restart and when he ran him into the wall and his car got hurt too, he got mad.  Don't know what happened between him and Hamlin, but Keselowski could've seriously hurt someone the way he drove in the garage area trying to get to Hamlin.  I thought he would've been parked for the rest of the season, but Nascar screwed this one up.
James and Mark with a good battle for who will finish in the 3rd and final money spot.  As I am falling so far back, I am almost caught up to Colleen.
In the half pool, John still holds a slim lead over me, as Debbie keeps climbing back up.
Good luck to everyone here in Talladega today, and may Keselowski not kill your favorite driver today too!

Paul !

Results From Kansas - Hollywood Casino 400

Great end to the race last week.  Thought Kyle Larson was going to get win #1, but Joey Logano held on to take the win.  Dale Junior looked strong early on, taking the lead and holding off Kevin Harvick.  But a blown right front tire sent him hard into the wall and thus ending his shot at a win.  The saga at the front of our pool continues as Brian keeps losing ground to Gary (now only 54 points behind) and Mark (105 behind).  Six races to go, and it looks like it could go down to the wire.
Finally, a slip up from John in the half pool.  Now it's getting good.  All the way to 6th place has a chance now.  And who would've thought, picking the 48 anywhere that Jimmie would finish 40th.  Wow.
Everybody enjoy the race tonight on ABC at 7:30, from Charlotte!

Results From Dover - AAA 400

Hello there Nascar Poolers.  Greetings.  Salutations.  Anyway, a little late, but here we go.  Dover, not as exciting as I was hoping it to be, the bottom four getting the boot was really no surprise.  Unfortunately, there was no real drama going into the final half of the race.  I was hoping for some Bristol beating and banging from those in danger of being eliminated, but those guys were so far out it didn't matter.  Gary continues to eat into Brians lead, as his drive for three straight league victories continues.  Mark is in 3rd, 142 out and James in 4th 160 out.
In the half pool, John M continues to lead, and by a hefty margin.  I moved into second over Rich S.  and John M, sits in 4th.  Onward to Kansas.
   Good luck everyone next weekend.
Paul

Results From Loudon - Sylvania 300

Hey there boys and girls.  Joey Logano won at Loudon and secured both Penske cars in the next round.  Some chasers however, did not fair to well.  Hamlin, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon all had issues and that will make tomorrows race really interesting.  Although not a short track, Dover will sure look like Bristol, as guys down in the points will be making holes where there ain't none.
Brian's drivers are picking a bad time to do poorly, as Gary is now only 80 points behind.  Did anyone see this happening?  Mark jumps back in front of James who had a lousy week.
In the half pool, John M. moved up to fourth and is trying to get both of his picks in the money.  Rich is still hanging in there 42 points behind in second.
Right now, I am going to have to say that I will be putting Truex in for Stewart and keeping in the 15 car regardless of who is in it.  Gotta do something here.
   Enjoy the race on Sunday,
Paul

Today's Loudon Race

I am reading that Matt Crafton (from the Truck Series) will be a possible sub today for Bowyer, who's wife is expecting any minute.  If Bowyer should not race today, I will have Truex in, instead of taking points for the 15 car.
Thank you,
Paul

Results For Chicago - MyAFibStory.com 400

Hey there my fellow Nascar poolers.  Congrats to Brad Keselowski for a brilliant 3 wide pass between Kyle Larson and Kevin Harvick to take the lead late in the race and hold on to win the first race of the 2014 Chase.  Thanks to Clint Bowyer, I did something that I had never done in these pools, pick the race winner and have the lowest score.  Gary seems to have no problems and seems to be eating into Brian's lead a little bit. Now 137 points out (or 15 points per race to catch him).  I am in the same boat with Mark as I need to save some cash, I only need 14 points per week to save 100 bucks.
In the half pool, Debbie and I flip flopped 3rd and 4th, and Rich lost a little ground to John in Chicago.  Nine races to go in the season.  Getting good now.
Good luck to all in Loudon on Sunday.
Paul

Results For Richmond - Federated Auto Parts 400

Our usual trip to Richmond in September didn't happen this year due to events out of everyones control.  We were all definitely a little bit sad, but vowed to try to go to a race this year, maybe Dover or Pocono, but that never happened.  Watching the Nationwide race (always in the stands for) and the Cup race (usually in the pits for), I was kind of happy that we got to save a couple of hundred dollars this year.  I think Debbie might be the only one wishing she were there (Brad K winning), but both races were so uneventful and drama free.  Harvick led just about the whole Nationwide race, with no real beating or banging and Saturday night Keselowski led most of the race, while Newman was an easy in for the Chase and Biffle (who finished 19th!!! just running in circles... slowly) got in by a significant margin.  Boring! Too many drivers in the Chase if you ask me.
Happy that the playoff's are beginning, and happy that I took high score this week.  Brian = winner... just saying that now.  Who will finish 2nd and 3rd??? Gary looks strong, But I am coming for him.  Plus I have to catch Mark or I am out $100.
In the half pool, Debbie up two spots to 3rd, John M still in the lead with Rich on his trail.
Enjoy Chicago on Sunday!
Paul

Results From Atlanta - Oral-B USA 500

Hey kids, what a Labor Day race that was.  First it was Tony Stewarts return to Nascar after missing three weeks.  He started 14th and when the green flag dropped, you could tell he wanted to win this thing and get himself into the chase.  After two laps he was up to 7th and passing cars on the outside.  Marcos Ambrose's chances for the playoffs were destroyed after blowing up on lap 122.  Stewart was forced into the wall by Kyle Busch, both suffered damage, but Stewarts would later take him out for good.  Keselowski ran into a car when cars were coming onto pit road, ending his day.  And other playoff hopeful, Bowyer, broke his shifter and spent multiple laps in the pits to repair.  Oh, look, all of these drivers are mine in the pool. Wonderful. Lowest score ever.... ME!
And James, finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd to tie for the highest score ever! Congrats to you, sir.
In the half pool, Debbie picks the winner and closes in on 4th place John.  Still John M and Rich S atop the leaderboard.
Good luck to all in Richmond!
Paul

Results From Bristol - Irwin Tools Night Race

Well, an interesting race.  Kind of like when they run Daytona single file.  New progressive Bristol, supposedly you can run multiple lanes, except it seemed they could only run high, and nobody could pass low.  The most exciting point of the race was when Harvick wrecked Hamlin because he wanted the lead.  In the process, Dale Jr's night was over when Hamlin came back up the track and tore Jr.'s car all up.
John, James and Gary all felt the Bristol bop, and Brian once again took high score and widened his lead.  Looks like it will be a battle for 2nd place.
In the half pool, Rich picked the race winner yet again, but only gains 6 points on John. Poor Janice, picked Jr and we all know how that wound up.
Good luck to all in Atlanta,
Paul
